Reforestation or Afforestation
These projects focus on planting forests on previously unforested land (afforestation) or on recently deforested land (reforestation) and guarantee carbon sequestration for periods averaging 40 to 100 years. Forests are effective carbon sinks and also provide benefits such as biodiversity conservation and improved air, water, and soil quality. Many of these projects also provide socio-economic benefits to local communities.
